Greetings Gamers. This is Mewkow, a resident expert on a common gamer condition called Altitis.

One of most useful skills in Draenor for alts to have is…Flight.
When you are on the march to build a large Alt Army, you tend look for ways to speed up the process.
Finding the experience boosts is great, finding the meatier chunks of experience is important, but you have to get there first.
While Blizzard originally complained that flight in Draenor would bypass a lot of the content, once you are on your third alts, you’ve seen it all.
One of the ways you know you’ve seen it all, is in the process of earning Draenor Pathfinder, the meta achievement for flight.
The achievements needed have you exploring the entire map, finding treasures, completing zone quest achievements, and running apexis dailies.
By the time you have completed these requirements, you’ve seen the content, and earned flight many times over.
Some of the more challenging parts of the meta occur in Tanann Jungle, grinding reputation with a new set of factions there.
If you haven’t already tackled this task, it is best done on whatever you consider your primary character, since earning it will go account wide.
Your future alts will thank you for the speed and convenience, and you’ll have an Alt Army to 100 in no time.

Greetings Gamers. This is Mewkow, a resident expert on a common gamer condition called Altitis.

As you march on to level 100, there is another leveling friendly zone…Spires of Arak.
Available at level 96, this Arakkoa lore heavy zone is teeming with tasty experience, and experience boosts.
By the second or so time you have done the leveling grind, you likely don’t need the popular Smuggling Run garrison output.
The Home Away From Home outpost perk is a nice 20 percent boost to your experience, which will go a long way in this zone.
With this bonus, plus the garrison xp potion, and optionally the xp elixir, you will find yourself at level 100 in mere hours.
You can also find 5 treasures called the Offering of the Raven Mother, that will give you around 5 percent rested experience boost.
With a trip around the zone picking up the remaining treasures, and running a few of the larger quest lines, you likely won’t even notice the grind.
I highly recommend running through the Pinchwhistle goblin questline; not only because of the easy experience, but the Scrapyard blueprint and the follower at the end.
Between Arak, and Gorgrond, getting to level 100 can be a decently quick and fun trip.

The Draenor leveling experience has a little known early fast track zone….Gorgrond.
While it is very likely have leveled through this area, it is easy now to skip or quickly move through it as you race to 100.
There are however some rather beefy rare beasts that drop an XP filled quest item, something either a group or level 94 or higher solo player can handle.
8 in total, these quests can be saved up and turned in all at once, especially once you get your hands on an Accelerated Learning potion, or Rapid Mind elixir.
With the potion giving a 20 percent bonus, the elixir giving a huge 300 percent bonus, and a full set of heirloom leveling gear, you can level extremely fast.
With this setup and the 8 item quest turn in, it is pretty normal to get a full level worth of experience.
By preloading a number of the bonus events in the area as well, you can easily get another level in the process.
Gorgrond is an often overlooked area, full of meaty experience, and a standard part of my leveling experience.

One of the alt benefits for those more fashion conscious players is often overlooked….transmog.
Having multiple characters that can run raids and dungeons will let you get around those pesky lockouts.
For those with garrisoned alts, having the salvage yard leveled up will get you all manner of interesting gear that you can spread around.
With the upcoming Legion expansion, you will want to have at least one of each armor typed alt in your personal alt army.
This will ensure you are able to save transmog unlocks now by spreading the gear around, no matter what armor type it might be.
As we prepare for the coming expansion, it is time to expand our wardrobes with all the transmog goodies we can get our hands on.

For those that have more money than time to spend, we discuss…level boosts.
More and more MMOs are starting to include paid level boosts as a way of getting to new content, as the number of levels ever increases.
Warcraft in particular started this trend a while back by calling it the scroll of resurrection; a way for retired players to jump back into the game at level 80 and later at 85.
It was then revamped and turned into a way to boost any character to level 90, whether brand new or already established.
As of today, it has been upgraded to level 100, includes a full gear set, large bags, various flying licenses, and even a profession boost if the character was above 60.
While the ala-carte price of $60 is a bit steep for most, you do get a free boost when you purchase the next expansion, so everyone will get to try.
As eager as you may be to use this free boost, make sure you use it on a class you like, or you’ll suffer a bit of alt remorse.

If you are growing your own alt army, let me introduce you to the must have items…heirlooms.
Unless you are trying to savor the level grind, or love constantly changing out equipment, heirlooms are practically required for any serious altoholic.
Their primary focus is to grow with your character as they level to maximum, but certain pieces include a bonus.
You can get an heirloom piece for just about every slot on your character, but some come with an added experience bonus.
A full set of experience boosting heirlooms can really speed up the leveling process, having 5 or 10 percent in experience boosting power per item.
Heirlooms can be bought with gold, currency from expansions past, and even obtained from the dreaded garrison shipyard.
While quite pricey in gold to fully upgrade an heirloom piece to level 100, you can also obtain these upgrades from various dungeon currencies, and most active holiday currencies.
Heirlooms make an altoholic’s life far smoother in their leveling travels, and happen to have an iconic look as a bonus.

While garrisons may draw the ire of many, nothing draws more apathy than… the shipyard.
This level 100 garrison feature took the simple follower mechanic, and replaced it with equipable ships that have varying roles.
I imagine many with Altitis will have stopped short of getting the shipyard on more than one character, but it may be worth getting on multiple alts.
It will take more time and effort to get a shipyard up to full speed, as compared to garrisons, but the rewards are greater.
On top of higher gold and Apexis shard payouts, shipyard missions give alt friendly gear that will quickly gear them up.
Rarer missions will even hand out heirloom rings that are quite coveted by altoholics.
Don’t be too timid with your shipyard missions, as they pay well, and those you send out with above 90 percent chance will not suffer an explosive ship loosing fate.

Greetings Gamers. This is Mewkow, a resident expert on a common gamer condition called Altitis.

This time, we’ll be covering a more warcraft-centric aspect that everyone seems to love to hate; Garrisons.
Where most players may see a boring, chore like mechanic, an altoholic will see an opportunity to really make use of their alts.
By getting your alts to level 90, and doing the very least of questing to get your garrison, that alt will start generating garrison resources.
From there, it is very easy to set the garrison up to be a money making source.
With a little more effort, it can really become a money making powerhouse with the use of the trading post, and followers that can bring back even more.
A full alt spread of decently manageable garrisons can generate thousands in gold a week, depending on the time and effort you put in.
A more specialized setup with the appropriate crafting or gathering shops can turn that garrison into a crafting resource center to support another alt’s creation.
With a bit more work, and the addition of a barn, you can even make that alt garrison into a raiding resource generator for just about any need.
When you have a healthy case of Altitis, it really pays to put it to work for you.

Greetings Gamers. This is Mewkow, a resident expert on a common gamer condition called Altitis.

By now, you’ve probably gotten a few alts leveled high enough that crafting is a consideration.
Most alt friendly games have a form of crafting that will benefit not only the active character, but alts as well.
For this reason, picking a craft that benefits your alts is highly recommended.
If you tend to lean towards casting classes, cloth working is probably best.
If you are more into the heavily geared classes, crafting armor as a blacksmith might be better.
And, I imagine you get the idea for leather workers.
For those of us with full blown Altitis, you’ll probably have plenty of alts to level these various crafts, so focus on what helps the most characters, first.
And if you aren’t leveling too quickly, it is usually a good idea to level your crafting at the same time as the main class.

Greetings Gamers. This is Mewkow, a resident expert on a common gamer condition called Altitis.

So, you’ve decided it is time to give in to that alt itch. Welcome.
Perhaps you are¬†approaching a brand new game, or it is time to give your main a breather and see what the game has to offer those of our… persuasion.
Most games have a tutorial, or starter area, that begins your journey in the game.
This area is often ‘on rails’ and is designed to give you a taste of your new race, or class, and typically the game itself.
I recommend trying as many of these starter areas as you can, and not to give up too quickly on your new character.
You may find a new favorite alt with this method, and for those of us dealing with Altitis, we’ll probably end up using these characters eventually, even if they don’t shine right away.
In many games, some of the best design and game lore happens to live in these starter areas, and it would be a shame to miss out on good content.
And, even if you aren’t currently enjoying the altoholic lifestyle, this method just might help it spread to you as well.
